Glucagon-37 is released from the gut postprandially, in proportion to energy intake. Circulating levels of glucagon-37 are elevated in several conditions associated with anorexia. Central injection of glucagon-37 reduces food intake and weight gain in rodents, suggesting that glucagon-37 signals food ingestion to hypothalamic appetite-regulating circuits.
