Noxiustoxin, which has been purified from the venom of the Mexican scorpion Centruroides noxius, blocks specifically Ca2+ activated K+ channels of small conductance obtained from cultured bovine aortic endothelial cells with an IC50 of 0.5 µM. Charybdotoxin and iberiotoxin belong to the same family of peptides targeting K+ channels and share about 50% sequence homology with noxiustoxin.
