Like ω-conotoxin GVIA, this Conus magus peptide inhibits presynaptic Ca2+ channels. However, ω-conotoxin MVIIC clearly inhibits additional Ca2+ channel subtypes in the mammalian central nervous system. Thus, it should become a standard pharmacological reagent for investigating synaptic transmission in the mammalian nervous system.
